FINDINGbalance Doctrinal Statement & Beliefs

FINDINGbalance is the world’s leading Christian nonprofit ministry helping people repair their relationship with food and their bodies so they can live the abundant life they were created for.

Our mission is to provide easily-accessible, Christ-centered resources for anyone seeking freedom from food and body image struggles.

As an organization shaped by a Biblical worldview, we feel called to serve all individuals equally with the love and truth of Christ, regardless of their personally held views on faith, gender, race, sexual orientation or other factors.

Please view our core beliefs and our values to ensure they align with yours.

OUR VALUES

ALL FOODS FIT

We believe in a non-diet, “all things in moderation,” intuitive eating approach. We do not promote specific eating programs, diets, supplements or food trends. Ever.

COMMUNITY MATTERS

Unhealthy habits thrive in isolation. Healthy community heals shame and enhances other recovery and wellness efforts. With proper care, guidance, and with the support of healthy community, individuals can fully recover from bondage to eating issues.

GOD CARES ABOUT YOUR FREEDOM

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free,” (Galatians 5:1). God is wild about you and wants you to experience the fullness of life without eating issues, regardless of where you are in your faith journey.

The Essentials for Every Article We Publish

  • We want to hear your heart through transparency and vulnerability.
  • Article content will help us illuminate a Christ-centered path to hope and freedom from bondage.
  • We desire original content and will not re-publish anything that's been published elsewhere.
  • Please avoid sharing potentially triggering numbers, such as weight, clothing size, calories, workout details, etc., and potentially triggering details of your eating disorder.
  • Please do not promote or link your business or personal website in the body of the post.

Article Release Schedule

Blog articles will be released twice a month on alternating Mondays with new episodes of the Old School Food Freedom podcast.

Article Submission Frequency

We hope you will write and submit at least one blog article every 2 months, but more submissions give us more choices! This will enable a surplus of articles to choose from.

The FREEdom Blog Editor will determine which articles are released and when, so your submission may not be posted immediately.

Article Content

Topic(s)

You have a powerful story to tell and experience to share! We are interested in hearing your heart when you write, whether that's:

  • how God helped you overcome a struggle
  • a hope for recovery
  • a challenge you're in with food or body image
  • an event that impacted your eating or body image recovery, whether a "win" or "challenge" (wedding, church event, counselor/therapist appointment where you heard helpful recovery advice that changed your focus or direction, or something God showed you).

You may be dealing with pain and recovery, having a large family that helps or challenges your recovery, having a family that sometimes complicates your recovery with busy schedules and weekends of boy-energy.

No matter what you write about, always leave your reader with Jesus' HOPE. We want to illuminate a path to hope and His love for us.

Additions

You can include a quote, a Bible verse, or a song. Please be sure you cite the source and Bible version (NKJV, NIV, ESV, etc.).

Author Credit

We prefer you use your full name, or initials in cases where you are writing about something personal that you prefer not to have your full name attached to it. "Anonymous" is acceptable in cases where privacy is of utmost concern, as long as our FREEdom Blog Editor knows who you are.

Article Length

Please keep articles to around 500 words in length or 2500 characters including spaces. This doesn't mean if you write a short post or a lengthy one, it's not going to be used. Submit and we'll go from there.

Editing
  • For consistency, and to reduce editing time, please single space between sentences.
  • Write "Jesus", "He", "His", and any "sacred" names with a capital letter; some people claim "He" doesn't need to be capitalized for Jesus or God, we feel it deserves the highest respect.
  • Our desire is to post articles as they are without much change or major edits. We want YOU to show, and for the FINDINGbalance FREEdom Blog to represent many voices and writing styles, and not look like every one of us is the same. However, grammar, punctuation, and misspellings will be corrected, and some posts will be shortened or edited for clarity.
